Database Criteria

Stories about haunted places and ghosts come from everywhere.

Many people have been told stories about strange events that happened.

Many times alot of what makes a paranormal event just a story involves details that are needed to make the story a research worthy event.

Here is what we at G.H.O.S.T. consider important information needed to make a story more reseach material.

PLEASE NOTE:

While the information available here is considered the best information available the reader is remindered that the science of the paranormal is a work in progress.

We strive to provide accurate and useable information to the paranormal reseach community.

Please understand that although we base our current information on literally hundreds of research worthy cases there may be changes in the data over time.

As new quality data is added over time the various elements of a paranormal event percentage wise may change.

If this occurs we will quickly show the emerging trend based on all new data as rapidly as possible to ensure the paranormal community is aware of such trends.

Criteria for Database inclusion

Name of person reporting event

This information will be kept confidential if requested by the  reporting person but it must be included in the database. Anonymous stories can be great but without the names of the people reporting the hauntings , the stories are just stories and can not be included in our database.

Location of the event

Street name and number are best but we really need the city (town, village, suburb) and the state. A landmark still in existence or one that can easily be located on old maps or an old survey of the area is needed.

When event occurred

Date and time event occurred if possible but a close approximation will help. This can be the month and year the event happened. For all those long ago events the best approximation the witness can recall is okay.

Season, decade, or relation to historic (national or local)  Happenings are all acceptable for long ago events. Always needed is if the event occurred daytime or nighttime.

Frequency of the event.

The number of times the reported event happened. Greater number of similar paranormal events  are not always better.

A one time sighting of a ghost in front of multiple witness and caught on film is better for investigation than multiple sighting over a decade by one witness.

What happened???

See a ghost? What did it look like?

Hear noises? What type and how often?

Physical contact? Harmless or cause injury or death?

Conversation with a ghost? One way, two way. speaking to no one?

History

Any history that seems to support the type of haunting.

Research worthy information in local archives, family documents, newspapers, ect.

All nice but not always possible or probable.

We strive to include only the best research worthy paranormal experiences. Our goal is to create a center of information about haunted locations second to none.
